How do you show your masculine and feminine sides at work?

It is crucial that we utilize both our FEMININE & MASCULINE energy in the workplace. Yes, both! If you're too masculine people, you will isolate yourself and push people away but if you're too feminine, you won't gain the respect of others and they won't listen to you. And men and women each have BOTH types, it's not just for your gender.

As women, we want to be more in our feminine energy (if you label yourself as a feminine woman that is!) and create inclusivity and comfort. BUT, we must also be assertive and not get walked on or ignored.

  • Feminine Energy:ย

    • Needed because you need to:

      • Get along with others

      • Be inclusive

Debate: Working in Industry vs Academia

Our latest post on Insta has to do with looking at theย two different sides of STEM that I have worked in thus far in my 5-year career: Working at a university and working at a big company. I loved both of them for different reasons and I think it's very helpful to hear from other people's points of views, especially if you are looking for a career change or are graduating soon.

Below, you'll find my two cents but I am more interested to hear your point of view. What do you think? Do you work in industry or are a grad student, or something else? Am I completely wrong? Let me know.

Industry Pros:ย

  • Money- I doubled my salary coming to this job. I also moved from AZ to CA, but still

  • Could be more stable- I was a university employee at the U of Arizona but specifically forโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ‚ Fall Baddie Refresh ๐Ÿ‚

Hey STEM Baddie ๐Ÿ’…๐Ÿš€ It's been a while! ๐Ÿฅต Things have been crazy over here with work picking up, conferences, travel, and me being obsessed with my new gym. Also, my mom is visiting from Michigan at the moment and it is wonderful having her here. I hope you all are having a great baddie summer as well full of fun, friends, and family ๐Ÿฅฐ

Me & my mom hanging out at her friend's lake house before I head to my friend's wedding in Harrison, Michigan.

But as summer nears its end (Fall for me starts in September, it just feels right), we should take the time to remember our goals we set out for ourselves at the beginning of the year ๐Ÿ“ It's so easy to be a little lazier and have more fun during the summer ๐Ÿ–๏ธ (as we should!) but it's important to keep our promises to ourselves and keep working on becoming our best baddie selves ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ

  1. Reassess Your Goals

Staying Sane as a Woman in STEM

Hey STEM Baddie! I donโ€™t know about you, but I have had a long week. There have been so many things going wrong at work and many things Iโ€™ve had to coordinate and do and, of course, we couldnโ€™t get everything done that we wanted. So I know that itโ€™s hard out here and that we need to find ways to stay sane as women in STEM. It's easy to get wrapped up in our studies and our job and not take the time and energy to take care of ourselves, but we will show up so much better and more prepared when we take these tips and nurture ourselves. Now a lot of these tips will be common ones that you have most likely heard before, but maybe they will resonate a little differently this time!

1. Stay Healthy ๐Ÿฅ—๐Ÿง˜โ€โ™€๏ธ

Now I know you know this one, butโ€ฆ

Book of the Month: UNBOUND: A Woman's Guide to Power

Hey STEM Baddie! ๐Ÿ’…๐Ÿš€ For this month's Book Club, we are loving this book called Unbound: A Woman's Guide to Power by Kasia Urbaniakย ๐Ÿ’ช It is all about reclaiming our power as women to show up and take charge in this male-dominated world- and doing it in an influential way. ๐Ÿค๐Ÿฝ Instead of being brash and loud like we sometimes see 'power' portrayed as, casting your focus on the other person and really holding their attention is what is true power.ย This is a part of being influential, and influence is what will get people to respect you and take you seriously.

๐ŸŒธ INFLUENCE is POWER

True power is not performative.

True power is having people trust and believe in you. True power is influence. Have you seen the Netflix short series Sirens? Mikaela has power because she has influence (and looooads of money, but let's ignore that for now). Sheโ€ฆ
